Six students from the St. Clair County Technical Education Center (TEC) represented the Health Careers Program recently at the 2026 Michigan HOSA State Leadership Conference, held April 16-17 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City.
The annual conference brings together thousands of students from across the state to compete in healthcare-focused events that assess both knowledge and clinical skills, while also building leadership and career readiness.
Students competed in the following events:
Physical Therapy: Braylon Rogan (Marysville High School)
Clinical Specialty: Julia Ferguson and Leah Francek (Yale High School), and Stella Raymo (St. Clair High School)
Epidemiology: Jaden Cole (Marysville High School)
Persuasive Writing and Speaking: Amelia Waidelich (St. Clair High School)
In addition to their competitive events, students also earned individual recognition certificates:
Health Literacy Ambassador, Levels 1 & 2: Leah Francek (Yale High School)
HOSA Happenings: Julia Ferguson (Yale High School)
“We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence while representing TEC at the state level,” said advisor Stacey Barth. “Experiences like these are extremely valuable for students pursuing healthcare-related careers.”
